Concept
According to koinobori’s history, the carp was chosen as a symbol for Children’s day because it’s considered the most spirited fish, so full of energy and power that it can fight its way up in streams and cascades. Because of its strength and determination to overcome all obstacles, it stands for courage and the ability to attain high goals, for that Japanese families traditionally flew Koinobori from their homes to honor their children. Design
The result is an amazing piece with transparencies through the holes of scales carp on its geometric pattern and really subtile engraved details on the carp’s head. The red cotton cord hangs the “koi” in the same way as a windsock flows in the air.
